Presented by both the lead investigator and one of the prosecutors who successfully tried the case, this session explores the challenges, obstacles, and critical decisions encountered throughout the investigation and prosecution. The presenters will also share key lessons learned and insights that may benefit law enforcement professionals, investigators, and prosecutors facing complex, high-profile cases.
Sara Miller is an Assistant State Attorney in the 20th Judicial Circuit in the State of Florida. She has been a prosecutor for 19 years and is currently assigned to the Circuit-wide Homicide Division. She began her career handling misdemeanor level cases and worked her way up to the felony division. While in the felony division, she handled numerous cases, eventually specializing in Firearms cases. In 2013, she became the County Court Supervisor, when she trained new attorneys. In 2017, she was assigned to the homicide division. She has tried over 100 jury trials.
