Ryan Groomer is an Assistant District Attorney with the Bexar County Criminal District Attorney's Office (BCDA). He has served as a trial prosecutor for 12 years with experience handling charges ranging from low level misdemeanors to capital murders.
He has tried over 75 criminal cases to verdict as a member of the BCDA's Office. He has been a 1st Chair/senior level ADA in the Criminal Trial, Sex Crimes, and Intake divisions of the office. He also has previously served as the Deputy Chief of the Misdemeanor Division and has been selected to teach young prosecutors all over the State through the Texas District & County Attorney's Association training program. He was also nominated and selected to be a part of the inagural class of The National Prosecution Leaders of Now program through the Stanford Business School in 2020.
He received his Juris Doctor degree from St. Mary's University School of Law in San Antonio,Texas and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.
Andreen McDonald, A Case Study
This is a panel discussion between the law enforcement investigators from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office and attorneys with the Bexar District Attorney’s Office who were assigned to the homicide investigation of Andreen McDonald. The presentation will cover the case from the initial CID response through the trial, addressing important topics such as a multi-agency response to a homicide investigation as well as the successes and pitfalls of the trial.
