Kristil Krug was stalked and subsequently murdered in the fall of 2023. Kristil was terrorized by her stalker of months, before ultimately falling victim to the stalker in her garage just before Christmas. Kristil's case exemplifies teamwork and diligent investigation that lead to the identification, apprehension, and conviction of her killer. It took painstaking evidence collection and investigation to uncover the circumstantial and digital evidence that brought this case to a conclusion. Law Enforcement and prosecutors worked hand in hand with Kristil's family to get justice for her kids. This case has been featured in 2020, Dateline, and 48 Hours, and other outlets. Detective Pihlak is a veteran investigator and digital forensics expert with over 15 years of experience. Currently a Detective with the Broomfield Police Department, Pihlak specializes in network intrusions, financial crimes, and cyber-investigations.
Pihlak serves on the Mountain West Cyberfraud Taskforce (USSS) and the Colorado ICAC unit. Certified as both a CFCE and GCFE and court recognized expert in several areas of digital forensics and digital evidence.
