The Stalking Murder of Kristil Krug
Detective Justin Marshall, Broomfield Police Department
Kristil Krug was stalked and subsequently murdered in the fall of 2023. Kristil was terrorized by her stalker of months, before ultimately falling victim to the stalker in her garage just before Christmas. Kristil's case exemplifies teamwork and diligent investigation that lead to the identification, apprehension, and conviction of her killer. It took painstaking evidence collection and investigation to uncover the circumstantial and digital evidence that brought this case to a conclusion. Law Enforcement and prosecutors worked hand in hand with Kristil's family to get justice for her kids. This case has been featured in 2020, Dateline, and 48 Hours, and other outlets. Detective Justin Marshall of the Broomfield Police Department in Colorado serves in his primary assignment as the departments core persons/major crimes detective, and represents the department on regional teams including a nationally certified Child Abduction Response Team, and a regional Critical Incident Response team.
Detective Marshall has been a crisis negotiator since 2018, he also serves on as the vice president of the Rocky Mountain Hostage Negotiators, a regional association of Crisis/Hostage negotiators from Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, and New Mexico. Detective Marshall represents RMHN on the National Council of Negotiators Associations, and serves as the Domestic Violence representative to the NTOA Negotiators BASE (Board for Advocacy, Standards, and Excellence).
