Special Agent Edward Jacobson, Federal Bureau of Investigation
This is the case presentation on the Moscow Quadruple Homicide which occurred on 11/13/2022 in Moscow, Idaho. Jacobson will discuss the crime, the investigation, and the prosecution which resulted in B. Kohberger pleading guilty of the crime in July 2025.
SA Jacobson entered on duty with the FBI on August 10, 2003 and graduated Quantico on December 9, 2003. He was assigned to the Coeur d’Alene, ID Resident Agency where he worked mainly Child Pornography and Indian Country Violent Crimes cases.
In 2005, he was assigned to the newly formed North Idaho Violent Crimes Task Force. In January 2007, SA Jacobson was transferred to the Fort Worth Resident Agency of the Dallas Division, where he investigated Gang Crime. In January 2012, SA Jacobson transferred back to the Coeur d’Alene Resident Agency where he was named the coordinator for the North Idaho Violent Crimes Task Force working Violent Crime, Drug Crime, and Fugitive Investigations.
SA Jacobson served as the Acting Supervisory Senior Resident Agent (SSRA) from August, 2022 through August, 2024. He retired from the FBI in May, 2025.
SA Jacobson was a certified Firearms Instructor, Tactical Instructor, and Active Shooter Response Instructor with the FBI. During his career at the FBI, SA Jacobson assisted in the investigations of 4 death penalty eligible cases including serving as an investigative team leader in the Joseph Edward Duncan III investigation in 2005 and the on-scene commander for the FBI's response to the Moscow Quadruple Homicides in 2022.
SA Jacobson spends his off-duty time working on cars, guns, and cutting down trees at his Idahome.
