LT David R. Camacho, El Paso Police Department

Before joining the El Paso Police Department Lt Camacho served in the United States Marine Corps. Lt. Camacho has been a Police Officer with the EL Paso Police Department since 2007. He was assigned to the Patrol Division and later served as an Investigator with the Robbery and Burglary investigative unit, Criminal Investigations Division.
Lt. Camacho was assigned to the El Paso Police Department’s Homicide unit from October 2014 to March 2023. He served in the Homicide Unit as a Detective and a Sergeant. He also fulfilled the duties of a Task Force Officer with the Federal Bureau of Investigations, Violent Crimes Squad.
Lt Camacho also served as the AMBER Alert coordinator for Region 7 in the State of Texas from 2017 to 2023. As an alert coordinator, he was responsible for assisting State and local officials with developing and enhancing AMBER Alert plans and missing persons’ data bank entries.
Lt Camacho is a Master Peace Officer in the State of Texas, he earned a State certification with the Texas Commission of Law Enforcement as a primary instructor, and firearms instructor, and served as a member of the Special Weapon and Tactics team for the El Paso Police Department. Lt Camacho is a Park University graduate, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. Lt. Camacho is also a Lamar University graduate, he earned a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice.
Lt Camacho is currently assigned to the El Paso Police Department’s Criminalistics Unit [CSU]. As the Lieutenant of the Crime Scene Unit he participates and manages the processing of crime scenes, coordinating the investigation of crime scenes with sworn personnel in the field. The Crime Scene Unit is called upon to establish an organized approach to gathering evidence at a crime scene. Lt Camacho is an active adjunct instructor with the National Criminal Justice Training Center.
