WELCOME TO SOUTHEASTERN HOMICIDE INVESTIGATORS ASSOCIATION (SEHIA)
Mr. Cavanagh was appointed as a Special Agent (SA) of the FBI on March 17, 2019.
Since 2019, Mr. Cavanagh was assigned to the Columbia Division, where he investigated violent gangs, crimes against children, financial crimes, homicides, cold-cases, child abductions, interstate robbery crews, and international violent criminal enterprises/ drug trafficking organizations. Mr. Cavanagh also serves as a member of Columbia Division's Child Abduction Response Team and Investigative Genetic Genealogy Coordinator.
Since 2020, Mr. Cavanagh has served as the coordinator for the Safe Streets Task Force. The Safes Streets Task Force consists of local, state, and federal law enforcement officers who investigate violent criminal enterprises, utilizing sophisticated techniques.
In January 2022, Mr. Cavanagh joined the FBI Columbia Division's Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team. FBI SWAT is responsible for conducting high-risk federal warrant service and hostage rescue missions.
PRESENTATION
DISAPPEARANCE OF BRITTANEE MARIE DREXEL
Presentation will outline the circumstances surrounding the 2009 cold case abduction of Brittanee Drexel. Beginning with her initial trip to Myrtle Beach, days she spent visiting, her disappearance and ultimately, the recovery of her remains. The presentation will focus on the FBI's involvement in the case, our teams review of the case, and investigative strategy, and relationship with the victim’s family.
