Detective Neil Baker is an active 33 year veteran currently with the Denver Police Department in Denver, CO, assigned to the Homicide Unit.
Neil began his career in 1991 working for the Littleton Police Department where he spent 13 years before transferring to the Denver Police Department in 2004. Neil spent the majority of his career as a patrol officer and working in patrol. Neil served in various specialized units such as Motorcycles, Narcotics, Community Policing and training new police officers.
Neil shifted his focus in law enforcement into Criminal Investigations where he served as a General Assignment Detective, investigating property crimes, assaults and street-level robberies. He then transitioned to the Major Crimes Division at the Denver Police Department where he focused on Crimes Against Children and Sex Crimes before moving to his current position in Homicide. He continues to serve this position investigating active Homicide cases and Critical Incidents involving police officers.
He also teaches at the Denver Police Academy and is a current instructor with the International Law Enforcement Academies (ILEA), teaching Homicide and Advanced Homicide courses in San Salvador, serving police agencies in the Central American
and Caribbean countries.

QUINTUPLE HOMICIDE/ARSON
This presentation is a beginning to end, six-month investigation of a quintuple homicide/arson that took place at 5312 Truckee St. in Denver, CO, on August 5, 2020.
The investigation began as house fire and possible accidental death which quickly turned into a homicide investigation after video footage was obtained.
This presentation walks the audience through the challenges that investigators faced from the beginning and through the following months of the investigation with absolutely no leads. Discussion will include different techniques and strategies used by investigators to obtain search warrants for digital data and ultimately leading to a search warrant to Google which broke open the case.
Included will be legal challenges that investigators and prosecutors faced with this case that ultimately lead to the successful prosecution of the individuals responsible.
