MIKE RUGGIERO
DETECTING DECEPTION
Ruggiero has 35 years of law enforcement experience. He worked for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office for 32 years, with approximately 25 years conducting investigations ranging from Sex Crimes, Internal Affairs, Narcotics, Robbery, and Homicide.
In addition, he has provided advanced training in the areas of CID, Interview and Interrogation, and the skills of Detecting Deception to officers throughout the US.
Ruggiero conducts training through his own company, Police Training Institute as well as an adjunct instructor for the Public Agency Training Council. He authored a book entitled, “Uncover the Truth” highlighting the skills of body language and statement analysis. He also has a follow-up book coming out in 2025 entitled “An Immaculate Confession” on conducting more effective interviews and interrogations.
Ruggiero is recognized as a subject matter expert in the area of interview and interrogation, having worked with FDLE to establish the curriculum taught to officers throughout the state.
