Tom Wieczerak is a Captain with the New Jersey State Police where he is currently assigned as the Bureau Chief of the High Tech Crime Bureau, which consists of the Cyber Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, Electronic Surveillance Unit, Regional Computer Forensic Lab, and the Missing Persons & Human Trafficking Unit. Captain Wieczerak has been a New Jersey State Trooper since 1997, graduating with the 117th State Police Class. Captain Wieczerak was previously assigned to various assignments to include the Major Crime Unit, Organized Crime Unit, Casino Gaming Bureau, Camden and Irvington Anti-Crime Task Force and also served as an Academy Instructor.
Captain Wieczerak was assigned as a Detective, Detective Sergeant, Detective Sergeant First Class and ultimately Lieutenant within the New Jersey State Police Major Crime Unit beginning in 2012 and ending in 2020. During this time, he participated in numerous large-scale and high-profile investigation within the State of New Jersey. During this time, Captain Wieczerak was instrumental in the formation and creation of the newly formed New Jersey State Police Cold Case Unit.
Captain Wieczerak is a graduate of the College of New Jersey and received a Masters Degree from Seton Hall University. He is a graduate of the 272nd Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Captain Wieczerak was President of the New Jersey Homicide Investigator’s Association (NJHIA) from 2018-2021 and previously served as Vice Presidant. He is a member of the Vidocq Society and also served prior as a United States Marine.
