2023 SEHIA ATTENDEE AND EXHIBITOR REGISTRATION IS OPEN!
Nick Tollefson was born in San Bernardino, California where he attended local schools. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from California State University San Bernardino. He continued his quest for higher learning and a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from California Coast University.
Nick is currently working towards his EdD in Organizational Leadership. Nick began his law enforcement career in 2005. He was hired by Barstow Police Department and after two years of patrol in the city of Barstow Nick lateralled to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Nick was selected as a Field Training Officer to train new patrol deputies. He was also selected as a member of the Region 2 Mobile Field Force Team and Off Highway Vehicle Team. In 2009 Nick received the Officer of the year Award and was selected as a recipient of the Michael Josephson Institute Award. Nick assisted the Sheriff’s Academy with teaching Basic Academy courses such as report writing and Traffic Investigations. In June 2012 Nick was selected and transferred to the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team Specialized Enforcement Division (SED).
Nick has firsthand experience dealing in critical events. He was present during the four-day manhunt for Christopher Dorner. He was one of the first responders at the Inland Regional Center terrorist attack, and North Park Elementary School Active shooter. Nick Has been directly involved in other critical incidents which he debriefs for other SWAT teams around the world. Nick also teaches train the trainer courses on active shooters.
In 2015 Nick was promoted to Detective and assigned as a Team Leader. Nick has his Advanced POST certificate, Academy Instructor Certification Courses (AICC), Instructor Development Institute Level II certificate (IDI), Nick is currently assigned to the Specialized Enforcement Division’s (SED) as a Team Leader. Nick is a cross sworn US Marshal assigned to the Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force Team. Nick teachers Critical Incidents with lessons learned for National Tactical Officer Association (NTOA) and California Association of Tactical Officers (CATO). Nick has been published in CATO’s Quarterly SWAT magazine several times. Nick serves as an Adjunct Professor at Victor Valley College and currently attending Commanders College/Strategic Leadership Program (SLP) through California Association of Tactical Officers (CATO).
