Topic: “The Lululemon Store Murder”
Description: The Lululemon murder occurred on March 11, 2011, at a Lululemon Athletica store located in the Washington, D.C. suburb of Bethesda, Maryland, when Brittany Norwood, a store worker, murdered Jayna Murray, a fellow employee at the store.
Dimitry Ruvin is a homicide detective with the Major Crimes Division for the Montgomery County Police in Maryland. Detective Ruvin has been a homicide detective over the last 12 years. Prior to working homicide, Detective Ruvin worked in the Criminal Investigations Division for 3 years investigating burglaries, robberies, rapes and sex assaults, as well as non-fatal assaults, such as stabbings and shootings. Prior to that, Detective Ruvin worked as a patrol officer for approximately 5 years.
Detective Ruvin earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from University of Maryland, University College. Detecive Ruvin continued his education and training in the area of criminal investigations to include training with Harvard Associates in Police Science, United States Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation Academy.
Detective Ruvin is a receiver of several awards including a lifesaving award. Detective Ruvin recently received a commendation from the United States Department of Justice for his contribution to “Project Safe Neighborhoods” program. This award was for Detective Ruvin’s work on several homicides committed by members of Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) criminal street gang, which resulted in federal prosecutions.
