Description of the topic. A case study in the suicide of Fox Lake Police Lieutenant Joe Gliniewicz.
Chief George Filenko has over 30 years law enforcement experience. He retired as the Commander of the Lake County Major Crime Task Force (LCMCTF) April 1, 2016 however remains as an advisor to the Task Force.
He currently is the Chief of Police for the Village of Round Lake Park.
During his 12 tenure with the LCMCTF he worked his way through the ranks from detective to eventually being appointed as the Commander of the Task Force. He was the longest serving Commander in the 22 year history of the Task Force.
Chief Filenko has been involved in over 200 homicide investigations supervising or being directly involved in some of the most high profile cases in Lake County history. The Task Force also investigates Officer Involved Shootings, Kidnappings, Custodial Deaths and other heinous crimes.
He has been featured on CNN, Discovery ID, and has been featured by other local and national media sources.
